All-Star football game change

Looks like the July 4th Mike Smith Invitational, er, the VHSCA All-Star game, will apparently NOT be played at Darling Stadium this year, due to the installation of Field Turf. Site TBD.

(from the Newport News Daily Press msg. boards)

looks like the game WON'T be moved this year - the Darling Stadium turfing project didn't get passed at the last meeting of whoever, so maybe they'll do it next year.

locals for the July 4th game :

Powell Valley : QB/DB Cheric Mitchell, WR Delmas Lawson
JI Burton : QB Ethan Stewart

Castlewood : DL Coty Lawson
Chilhowie : OL Aaron Lundy
Lebanon : LB Richard Lockridge
Va. High : DB Daniel Woods

Abingdon : WR Tyler Bailey
Richlands : DB Austin Fuller, LB Shane Wicks

Coaches - Mance, Gilbert, Colobro, Mullins, and a couple of NoVa guys (yeah, Fairfax Co. & Alexandria are WEST)

Those are some pretty good kids to represent the area. Wicks is a hitter. Of course everyone knows of Fuller. Bailey is talented at WR, and the Lundy kid is a brute.
